The colours I have chosen reflect my target audiecne of a female gender. They focus on black, purple, grey and blue which are different to those which would reveal a male audience. I have included different shades of the colours so I can highlight particular words with the different shades. I will also use the colour white.
My target audience is female therefore I have chosen to use slightly femanine fonts to be used in my magazine. These consists of some basic fonts aswell as some slanted 'handwritten' effect fonts. This creates a femanine feel to the magazine and empahsises my target audience.

Due to the fact my target audience is of a higher class, most of the advertisements will be more expensive brands. Most of these brands are also based on the female sex for example all the fashion labels. I have also included make-up, cosmetics, underwear, perfume and jewellery logos. These are all heavily based around a female audience.

My target audience is 15-19 year old women. I have chosen the pictures I have as these are things this age group and sex would be intersted in. For example the more expensive brands and technolgy as I have chosen a target audience of a higher class. I have chosen to include the logo for McDonalds as this is a typical place for this age group to eat. I have used the advertisment logo for "Britain and Irelands Next Top Model" and "X Factor" as these are popular programms for the gender. Social networking is a shared interest amongst teenagers therefore I have included a few logos or app pictures e.g. tumblr and facebook.

The majority of students that will read this magazine are female as 60% surveyed were female and the other 40% were male. Out of these students only 5% currently read the college magazine which tells us the current magazine does not appeal to the students. We asked how often they would like the magazine to be published and 55% would prefer for it to be published monthly. The majority of students were not prepared to pay for the magazine (55%), although 90% would if freebies and discounts were given. We also asked what they would like the magazine to have articles about and gave 10 options. Out of these 10 the most popular were: Technology, Fashion, Music, Jobs and Food. This will help us plan our college magazine to suit what would interest them. So that the appearance physically attracted the students we asked what colours should feature on our magazine cover. The mode of this question was: Blue, Red, Yellow and White. College Front Cover Magazine Analysis

The masthead of this magazine reinforces the target audience of college students, aged 16-19. The masthead is prominent on the page as it is a rich and alarming colour; therefore it is a main part of our focus. The main image stands out from the cover and symbolises a sleek college life, as he is smartly dressed and presents a positive outlook on college. Also, due to the man being black it suggests a multi-cultural environment and non-discrimination policy at college. This is inviting and reassuring to all students. The colours used on this cover are fresh and bold. They contrast well with each other and portray a modern and young effect to the magazine. The side headers used are deliberately related to youth and what college students would be interested in. For example, the advertisement of the apple iPad will appeal to students as technology is a frequent craze of teenagers. Fashion is also a great interest to students, to stand out as an individual is important to them. Therefore this magazine mentions college fashion and the new styles for summer. This is also seen in the side header ‘SEXY SUMMER STYLE’ this relates to relationships as well as fashion. This hints that the magazine is for both male and female students. Sport is also a common interest to college students therefore the magazine cleverly talks about a stunt team and adrenalin full activities. Overall, when you analyse all the aspects of this magazine a positive effect of college life is conveyed.
